Frequently Asked Questions

Does Harster sub-contract its installations?

No. We have our own crews – no subs. We do, however, sub-contract for electrical work, cranes and for some flue liners.

Are Harster service people trained?

Absolutely. Our service people participate in annual training programs to stay current with changes, licensing, codes and trends.

Are they paid hourly or by commission?

Great question. They’re hourly. Technicians paid on commission are always trying to sell you something. Our guys just do their jobs.

Does Harster carry liability insurance?

Yes, we carry both general liability and workers’ compensation insurance.

Does Harster issue a lien waiver when the job is done?

Yes we do, upon request.

Are Harster service people licensed?

Yes. Harster technicians maintain either a Sheet Metal license, a Pipefitter license, a Water Heater Specialist license, or a HVAC Service-Installer license. Harster technicians are licensed in St. Louis City, St. Louis County and Jefferson County. Licenses are renewed every three years and the technician must complete a certain number of professional education units (PEUs) during that period through classroom instruction in order to maintain their license.

Does Harster have in-house quality control procedures?

We do. Our customers grade us on our performance with quality review cards and we check them constantly. We are also graded through our Angie’s List reports on price, quality, responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism.

Does Harster have a service department I can contact?

We do. Our hours are between 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. MON-FRI. Occasionally we’re open on Saturdays, but that depends on the season. Give us a call to find out. Oh, and your call will be answered by real people, not answering machines.
